About the Item

Brooklyn Heights View, Original Cityscape Photography, 2017 9" x 19" (HxW) Photographic Print A clear blue sky is the perfect backdrop for the skyscrapers of Manhattan. New York's placement on the water gives such great juxtaposition between man and nature. The facades of the buildings glow a purple blue, as if echoing the sky and water around them, while the yellow and orange lights that have been turned on within the windows mimics the last glimmer of light at the horizon line as the sun sets. Images with frames are examples only; this work comes unframed. Artist Commentary: Sunset photograph of Downtown Manhattan taken from Brooklyn at Sunset. I took this on a cold winter's day when showing friends around the city. We took in the sunset from this spot before crossing into Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. I love the last sliver of sunlight in the bottom left putting the statue of liberty into Silhouette. Artist Biography: William brings many years of creative experience to the table. He possesses an MFA in Cinematography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. His studies have taken him around the world. In the summer of 2008 he studied at the prestigious Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the fifth oldest film school in the world. In 2011, while completing his masters, Will traveled to Dublin, to work on the Academy Award nominated film Albert Nobbs starring Glenn Close. With this experience he is able to provide exceptional composition and lighting to all of his work using his highly refined eye to turn your special moments into art.

Jim Krantz Epic Western III, 2019 40 x 68 inch chromogenic print Edition 3 of 5 Signed on signature label. Artist Biography - Krantz occupies a unique place in the history of contemporary art for his imagery blending western landscape photography with the figure of the cowboy as depicted and romanticized in American popular culture. The technical underpinning of his work was established when he studied with Ansel Adams and Paul Caponigro, but perhaps more importantly, Krantz’s work reflects a dictum that he learned from Adams: “Technical proficiency leads to artistic freedom.” His range and versatility are his forte, working with ease in demanding and ever-changing conditions. If Krantz’s work looks familiar, it is not surprising. Krantz, had been documenting the cinematic vistas of the American West for 20 years on commercial assignments and these much published images caught the eye of appropriation artist, Richard Prince, known for re-photographing advertisements and presenting the resulting images in a new “conceptual” context. Prince’s most famous series is his large scale reproductions of the cowboy images...
