In this photograph by Zoe Wetherall, “Horses” two horses stand next to a wire fence, the shadows of the fence posts and horses delineate their forms on the ground, which tell us what they are, in an otherwise mottled brown and dry green field of texture.
Zoe Wetherall’s photos are taken just above us, a bird’s eye view. From a few hundred feet Wetherall photographs straight downward, excluding the horizon, sky, or any visual reference point. Her photos tell stories and inspire questions. She records the structured geometry of natural and man-made forms and uses her camera to reveal the beauty in the subtle patterns hidden in architecture and landscape. Zoe Wetherall is a Brooklyn-based photographer from Australia. She has won numerous photography awards in Tokyo, Moscow, New York, Los Angeles, and Australia, and others.

Zoe Wetherall
Zoe Wetherall is a Brooklyn-based photographer from Australia, who travels the world to photograph abstract aerial landscapes from the point of view of a hot air balloon. Zoe Wetherall photographs at a pace and elevation that gives a truly unique perspective. Hovering about the landscape in a hot air balloon, these photographs abstract the landscape by removing the line of the horizon. Wetherall’s photos are taken just above us, a bird’s eye view. From a few hundred feet Wetherall photographs straight downward, excluding the horizon, sky or any visual reference point. Her photos tell stories and inspire questions. Sasha Bezzubov’s photographic approach has developed through diverse series that address the contemporary condition and explore the nature of the document. Working both solo and with his sometime collaborator Jessica Sucher, Sasha Bezzubov uses a large format camera to photograph the people and the land in diverse series including, The Gringo Project, Expats and Natives, Things Fall Apart, The Searchers, Albedo Zone, Facts on the Ground and most recently, Republic of Dust.
Bezzubov is a two-time recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship Award. His work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions including International Biennial of Photography and Visual Arts (Liege, Belgium); Tucson Museum of Art; Museum Belvedere (The Netherlands); Herter Art Gallery (University of Massachusetts); Wavehill (New York); New Orleans Museum of Art; and Noorderlicht Photography Festival (The Netherlands).
