About the Item

The early 1970s was a period of reexamination of the state of photography for Mitchell Funk. He broke with the tradition of shooting gritty street photography in black and white and did it in color. The technique and the subject matter work together in Funk's color street photography it brings a sense of realism to any already very real subject and engages the viewer. In the 1970s, New York City was very different, with skid rows and homeless in many parts of Manhattan. Signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed. printed later, This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. The color will vary from monitor to monitor. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
