This piece is an original photograph from the original negative, shot by Clarence Sinclair Bull in 1929 and printed later for the John Kobal Collection. It is part of a portfolio of 5 images of actress, Greta Garbo. This piece was printed in 1979 under the direct control and supervision of Mrs. Bull, assisted by John Kobal, at Still Photo Lab in California using museum archival standards as its guide.
John Kobal was a film historian and collector of old Hollywood film photography. Kobal has been credited with rediscovering Hollywood film photographers such as Clarence Sinclair Bull. His mission in the 70's and 80's was to reunite photographers with their original negatives and produce new prints for exhibitions and museums. These photographs form the John Kobal Collection. This collection of photographs of Greta Garbo by Clarence Sinclair Bull were distributed by Edward Weston Editions, California.
This piece is blind embossed with the Clarence Sinclair Bull seal and a stamp signature. This piece is numbered from the edition of 99, plus 5 proofs, and measures 14 x 11 inches.
