This striking black-and-white portrait by Kristian Schuller captures a surreal, almost theatrical presence. The model, Lera Abova, is shown in profile, her body positioned in a rigid, animalistic crouch as she leans forward over a textured surface. Photographer Kristian Schuller divides his time between New York and Berlin, though his story begins in Romania, where he was born. His family relocated to Germany during his early years. His creative education was shaped by two notable mentors - he studied fashion design under Vivienne Westwood and photography with FC Gundlach at Berlin's University of Fine Arts.
A pivotal moment in his career came when Isabella Blow introduced him to Condé Nast Publications in London. Since then, his photography has spanned fashion magazines, commercial work, and personal artistic projects. His work has been exhibited across major cities, including Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Krakow, Miami, and Hamburg. Schuller has published several photography books: "90 Days, One Dream" (2010), "Tales for Oskar" (2014), and his most recent work "Anton's Berlin" (2020), published by Hatje Cantz.

Kristian Schuller
Kristian Schuller is a Romanian born international star photographer and has brought his signature for theatrical imagery with supermodels and Hollywood stars. Schuller embraces his images with a high-energy approach: Everything epic, all the time. “My father was a theater man and I was growing up on stage. If you like the stage, the theater and this whole storytelling thing then you’re never afraid to tell a story in an epic way to entertain people with good taste and strong stories.” Schuller grew up in Germany, studied fashion design with Vivienne Westwood and photography with F.C. Gundlach at the Berlin University of the Fine Arts. He has worked internationally with various fashion magazines and commercial clients. Schuller’s focus is his award winning fine art photography, exhibited in museums worldwide.
