Michel Comte
Mike Tyson Training Camp - Portrait with Towel, Fine Art Photography, 1990

ca 1990

About the Item

Black and White Closeup Portrait of the Boxer Mike Tyseon with a towel, photographed by Michel Comte ca. 1990. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. Mike Tyson is one of the most famous Boxers in the World. At only twenty years old he was the youngest person ever to win the World Championship in his weight class. Michel Comte honors the Boxer in this Portrait Series. This image is a closeup of the Boxers face. A white Towel is placed over his head, pearls of sweat coat his face and his hands are clasped together in a praying gesture. Tyson seems deep in thought, the soft black and white grading leaving his peaceful face to be the focal point of the image. The saturated colors of the broiling desert against the piercing blue of the clear sky or the cool palette of an intimate black-and-white portrait, Michel Comte can do it all. The Swiss star photographer has made his mark on fashion and celebrity photography since his first international advertising campaign for Karl Lagerfeld in 1979. Comte’s oeuvre truly is the work of a homme modern – capturing the most celebrated figures of the century, from boxers to supermodels, such as Carla Bruni or Helena Christensen. His portraits, nudes, or fashion campaigns always come exceptionally close to his subjects and create an intimate setting for the viewer. Mike Tyson with Dove - portrait of boxing legend, fine art photography, 1990
By Michel Comte
Located in Vienna, AT
All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. Mike Tyson is a legend even beyond the boxing world. This high-contrast black-and-white portrait shows a closeup of his face and chest in profile. He is holding a white dove in front of his face as if to kiss it. Contrasted by the dark background, the bird becomes the focal point of the image. The huge man holding it appears even bigger next to the small bird, yet his gentle gesture toward the bird gives the image a peaceful and meditative vibe. The saturated colors of the broiling desert against the piercing blue of the clear sky or the cool palette of an intimate black-and-white portrait, Michel Comte can do it all. The Swiss star...

Roxanne Lowit photographed the artists together at Restaurant Les Bouchons in Paris. They sit at a table, leaning together as they reapply their Lipstick. Roxanne Lowits Works let us experience the fabulous world of art and fashion in the 80s and 90s. In a time long before Social Media, she captured culturally significant Moments and Iconic friendships on film. Daring poses, red lips, crooked smiles, and sex appeal characterize the photographic oeuvre of the late Roxanne Lowit. Catapulting us straight back into a decade of excess and ecstasy, her unfiltered lens into the 90s reveals more than ever. Uninterested in glossy façades, the star photographer captured the unseen without being voyeuristic. Eternalizing the prime of supermodel culture with Kate Moss and Naomie Campbell, enfant terribles of the art circus...
