About the Item

Even at the age of 19, street photographer Mitchell Funk forged a unique style of street color photography. It was based on formal and exacting compositions with an emphasis on strong color that broke with the tradition of snapping pictures on the street. In this image, Funk frames the subject within a grid structure of strong lines and bold colors that draws in the viewer and elicits a sense of intense introspection. We feel humanity. Signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed. printed later. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970, he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time-Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others.
