About the Item
Being a native Californian, the Pacific Ocean greatly influences Susie’s creativity. Her passion is photographing the motion, anatomy, and mechanics of seabirds and their environment. Since her main subject matter is a wild bird in flight, focus and cropping are a constant challenge. Each of her bird portfolios represents her favorite photographs of tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of shots.
After receiving a B.A. in Art from San Diego State University, Susie briefly worked as a freelance photographer. Then her life took an unexpected turn – she became a standup comedienne performing across the country and beyond. In the ’90’s, she appeared on many major television networks including NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and HBO.
She now feels happiest behind the camera, not in front of it. Her work is exhibited in galleries in California and in homes around the world.
