About the Item

" I've been staying in Sedona for over a month and only shot Bell Rock once or twice. It's a very beautiful area with gorgeous landscapes but I've also seen how photographed it was all majestic and wonderful. I wanted a scene that stands out. As it turns out, I was blessed by mother nature and a little luck. The previous night brought torrential rain. I woke up early and hoped to see something unusual or unique. I flew my drone to scout. Took some nice b-rolls, replaced the battery (25-30 min avg flight time), then this scene miraculously developed where it was clear just minutes before. Apparently the moment the the rays of the sun touched the Bell Rock, it immediately heated the soaked, porous rocks and it started to evaporate...giving you steam. Patience definitely paid me with this capture. " Viet Chu is a world traveler for photographic assignments. He finds beauty in life’s special moments in time, capturing each with his unique photographic style. Chu’s work is a reflection of his journey’s and life experiences. In his approach to capture an image, he utilizes traditional and non-traditional means of lighting. It is then infused with his intuitive sensibility, converging it with emotional intelligence, to create a simple composition of shadows, light, subject and background. His goal is to capture a moment in time that tells a story for the rest of time. Limited Edition of this print, numbered and signed by Viet Chu are available in the sizes below. Lightning/Cotton Field, limited edition photograph, archival, signed The adrenaline of seeing Mother Nature during some of her finest moments will be ingrained in me forever. It is a humbling experience - and I feel fortunate to have witnessed her power and grandeur over the past 12 years. My experiences are hard to describe in words During this last trip (July 2021) we traveled over 6400 miles in 10 days crossing through 10 different states - all in my quest/passion to photograph these storm systems. But this time the events of the last year made me more aware, opened my eyes wider, and had a different effect on me. The effects of Climate Change have become obvious. The current patterns are changing and they are accelerating faster than anyone realized or predicted. Just over the past decade, the characteristics of the Jet Stream and the Gulf Stream...

Just over the past decade, the characteristics of the Jet Stream and the Gulf Stream have changed. Pandemics, droughts, devastating heatwaves, wildfires, massive floods, and rising oceans are accelerating. As I sit here in my house in Lone Pine, CA in 103-degree heat I can hardly see the outlines of Lone Pine Peak and Mount Whitney...
