Anniversary. 1997, pressed cardboard, acrylic, collage, 122x118 cm ALEKSANDRS DEMBO (1931. Paris – 1999. Riga) Born in 1931 in Paris, France, died in 1999 in Riga, Latvia. Professional training: Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1947-1949), Riga Applied Arts School (1949-1955), Graphic Arts Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts (1957-1963) under the supervision of the Professor A. Apinis. Contributor to exhibitions since 1962. A member of the Artists' Union of Latvia as of 1967 and the B-13 Association (1993 - 1998) since 1993. Personal exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Prague, Bratislava, Venice biennial, Stockholm, Portland (USA), Tallinn (Estonia), Vilnius (Lithuania), Tbilisi (Georgia), Bremen (Germany). Participation in international exhibition of graphic arts in Krakow, Ljubljana, Friedrichstadt, Bradford, Tokyo, Berlin, and Tallinn. He won a Honorary Diploma at the 1st and 5th Graphic Art Triennial in Tallinn (1968, 1980). His works have been acquired by: "Arsenals" Art Museum in Riga, Latvia Artists' Union of Latvia, Riga. State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, Russia. Ministry of Culture of Russia, Moscow. Art Museum of Sofia, Bulgaria. Art Museum of Newcastle, UK. Art Museum of Rostock, Germany. Art Museum of Prague, the Czech Republic.
