Abstract 2 is an original hand drawn lithograph by the German artist Jan Voss, printed using hand lithography techniques on archival Arches paper 100% acid free. Abstract 2 presents a free form conceptual calligraphy drawing; a Modernist style multicolor image with organic animal-like forms and linear, geometric shapes printed in muted neutral colors - blue, green, yellow, red, and black on a warm off white background - a thought provoking yet peaceful composition. Print size - 19.75 x 25.5 in. unframed, very good condition, pencil signed by Jan Voss Edition size - 100 Year published - 1972 Jan Voss was born in Hamburg Germany 1936. He studied at the Munich Art Academy from 1956 to 1960. In 1966/67 Voss was a guest lecturer at the Hamburg Art Academy. He was a professor at the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1987 and 1992. Work by Voss was shown at the Kunsthalle in Kiel in 1997 and at the Städtische Galerie Villa Zanders in Bergisch Gladbach in 2002. That same year he had a one-man show at Art Cologne to great critical acclaim. Jan Voss's artistic theme is 'creating order' amongst perpetually moving chaos of a complex situation. Voss experiments with different inventive techniques and materials; there are vibrant painterly works on canvas in saturated color as well as understated, narrative works that are more linear. His work as been exhibited and collected internationally.

Edition size - 225, plus proofs Year - 1977 About the artist- Yona Lotan (1926-1998) Jewish engineer and painter was born in Lithuania. His family moved to Tel-Aviv, Palestine in 1936. He served as a high-ranking officer in the Israeli Army and fought in the War of Independence. In 1959 Yona Lotan began painting; he's considered a self-taught, outsider artist. Lotan always had the unquenchable desire to draw. His one-man shows in Israel and Geneva were so successful that he left the army, sold all his belongings and moved to Paris in 1960 in order to devote his life to painting. His art was vibrant and he became well known, not only in Europe, but also in the United States. In 1965 he won the coveted Prize of Foreign Painting given by the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Along with Maryan, Avigdor Arikha, Mordechai Ardon and Yaacov Agam. he was part of a group of Jewish emigre artists who worked in Paris. Paintings of Lotan are contained in the collections of: Musee National d'Art Modern, Paris, Pompidou Center, Paris Musee Municipal d'Art Modern, Paris. Museum Boymans, Rotterdam.
