About

Giclee print on archival paper titled "Happy Sad Smile." pencil signed, numbered (3/50) and titled at the bottom. Matted in 2 inch wide, archival, 4-ply, acid-free red mat. Framed in 3/4 inch wide face and 1 inch outside depth glossy white molding. Outside frame size: 24.75 x 30.75 inches. Jones was born March 24, 1948 in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. and received much of his early stone carving education from stone masons employed at his Grandfather’s company. He attended The School of Visual Arts; later Silvermine, studying printmaking. In the early 1990’s he returned to the University to study computer science believing it essential for the 21st century sculptor. In 1969 he opened his own gallery in Westport, Connecticut. He shared his enthusiasm for sculpting with the students at Litchfield High School as a participant in the Artist in Schools program 1969-1970. In the summer of 1970 he took time away from his studio and gallery to assist his friend Harvey Weiss construct and install his 4 story bronze sculptures on the side of Herman Taub’s Building at the Westport Ct. train station. 1968 - OGGI Design Studio, Rt 7, Georgetown, CT - “Seesaw for One” a 10’ tall painted steel sculpture. 1970 - The Silvermine Guild National Exhibition, New Canaan, CT - “Laze Star” Collection of W. Seth Newville Estate 1971 - Housatonic Museum of Art, Bridgeport, CT - “Atahualpa” 1974 - 1988 Bergerson Gallery later Bergerson-Lutz Gallery, Taos, NM 1987 - 1990 Salobra Gallery, Bent Street, Taos, NM 1989 - Los Angeles Art Museum Show for the Permanent Collection Fund
