About the Item
These colorful compositions are incomplete downloaded images from the internet on the iPhone. They evoke the limits of representation and the impossibility of transmitting a message, but also refer to the imperceptible images circulating in the abstract and immaterial currents of our telecommunications networks.
Patrick Bérubé received his Masters in Visual and Media Arts from the University of Québec at Montréal in 2005. As a finalist for the Pierre Ayot prize in 2010 and 2011, his work is recognized nationally and internationally by his numerous major exhibitions and events. These include the exhibition “Ceci n’est pas un Casino” at Casino Luxembourg and at the Villa Merkel in Germany. In 2005, he received the Jury Prize at the third Manifestation international d’art in Québec. He has attended multiple artist residencies, at the Conseil des arts et des lettres of Quèbec in Barcelona, Spain in 2009, the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2007, and the Buy-Self in Bordeaux in 2011. He produced his first solo exhibition in January of 2013 in New York. As an active member of the Clark gallery, he is also a founding member of the Pique-Nique collective.
