Cropped and double exposed images of ski lift chairs, mountain terrain, pine trees and a rustic wood walkway are represented on 12 x 12 inch Red River photo paper in Patty deGrandpre’s contemporary abstract monoprint titled “Day Pass”. Hues of pastel purple, blue and yellow are thoughtfully placed on and within black and dark green pictorial elements in this modern deconstructed winter landscape. Embracing both experimental printmaking and creative photography applications of block printing ink and digital inkjet are skillfully multi layered onto the media to create a dynamic graphic interlacing of whimsical shapes, color blocked forms, negative space and pictures. deGrandpre’s prints evolve from the vast catalog of photographs of common objects and scenes from everyday life.
