Lithograph on vélin d'Arches paper. Unsigned and unnumbered, as issued. Good Condition; never framed or matted. Notes: From the volume, Prints from the Mourlot Press, 1964. Published by Fernand Mourlot, Paris, and National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.; printed by Mourlot, Paris, October 27, 1964. Excerpted from the volume, This book was finished in Paris on 27th october 1964. The original lithographs and the reproductions were printed on the presses of Mourlot. The Imprimerie Nationale, Director André Brignole, was responsible for the typography. The edition has been limited to 2000 copies on Vélin d'Arches and 200 on Vélin de Rives reserved for the artists, the staff and the friends of the Imprimerie Mourlot.
PAUL GUIRAMAND (1926-2007) painter, sculptor and lithographer, was born in Saint-Quentin in northern France. His parents moved to the modest 19th arrondissement of Paris in 1933. In 1943, Guiramand entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, just across the Seine from the Louvre, the museum that became the primary source of his artistic education. In 1951, His artistic production is much influenced by Picasso, Matisse and Bonnard. He uses bright colours and strong brushstrokes. are exhibited at the Musée d'Art Modern de Ville de Paris, the National Library in France, the Besançon Fine Arts Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the New Otani Museum in Japan, the Tainan

From 1947 to 1951, Coutu studied at the Farnham School of Art, followed by the Royal College of Art in London from 1951 to 1954 and the Central School of Art from 1951 to 1955. At the Central School of Art, Merlin Evans was an influence on Coutu's printmaking. Coutu taught printmaking at the Central School of Art from 1957 to 1965 and then at the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham from 1965 to 1985. In 1968, he started to carve netsuke (as practised in Japan) and he joined the Netsuke Kenkyukai Society, based in the United StatesHe is also a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and the Printmakers Council.
