More about Terry Winters:
Over the last four decades, Terry Winters has expanded the concerns of abstract painting by engaging contemporary concepts of the natural world. Many of his earliest paintings depict organic forms reminiscent of botanical imagery. Over time, his range of themes expanded to include the architecture of living systems, mathematical diagrams, musical notation, and new orders of data visualization. His brilliant palette reflects his continual experimentation with materials. Throughout his paintings and works on paper a metaphoric sensibility reveals itself in the expressive language of resonant forms and figures. Winters has described being motivated to describe how “abstract processes can be used to build real-world images.”
Terry Winters (b. 1949) lives and works in New York City and Columbia County, New York. He has had one-person exhibitions at numerous museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London, the Kunsthalle Basel, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Most recently, the Drawing Center in New York organized a survey of his drawings in 2018.

Terry Winters
Terry Winters (born 1949, Brooklyn, NY) is an American painter, draughtsman, and printmaker whose nuanced approach to the process of painting has addressed evolving concepts of spatiality and expanded the concerns of abstract art. His attention to the process of painting and investigations into systems and spatial fields explores both non-narrative abstraction and the physicality of modernism. In Winters’ work, abstract processes give way to forms with real word agency that recall mathematical concepts and cybernetics, as well as natural and scientific worlds.

Superb provenance as it is was acquired from the original Long Point Portfolio. This will be the first time the work will be removed from the portfolio.
It is hand signed and numbered from a very small edition of only 30; it is in fine condition, unframed and never framed, and housed in the original portfolio box, with the original colophon page, which also included works by 11 other artists.
For reference and provenance we have included an image of the colophon page from the complete portfolio.
About Nora Speyer:
The most exciting place to me is where I can communicate with the greatest number of artists. I can't live without some artists around. I'm not saying artists are likable. They can be very objectionable, but they are still my world.
