Classic Poster Paper - Good Condition A
This lithographic poster is unusual and rare because it is a photo lithographic print of Picasso's ceramic 'Polychrome Bird'. In this case, to reproduce the three dimensional feeling of the ceramic, it was decided to have a photo-litho base and enhance it with some straight lithographic colors added to it. Since it was produced to advertise an exhibition of Ceramics at the Lucie Weill gallery in 1967 to celebrate Picasso new creation at the Madoura Studio. Again, it was Henri Deschamps that was asked to create the color lithographic plate to intensify the photograph for this glorious poster.
Picasso had developed a strong partnership with the Madoura Pottery workshop in Vallauris, where the whole team became part of the creative process, just as it was for lithography at Mourlot. Ed. 1000. Ref. Cwiklitzer # 319
