Color lithograph after the watercolor illustrations by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry from his beloved masterpiece "The Little Prince".
This lithograph was printed and published in 2009 in Paris using 100% cotton 300 g/m² BFK Rives paper. Artwork entirely made in France: from the production of the paper in Arches in the Vosges department, to the traditional lithographic printing process, one drawing for each different color, one color per press run.
The lithograph is plate-signed from the edition of 300 and features the dry stamp of the artist’s Estate.
Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger de Saint-Exupéry (Saint-Maurice-de-Rémens, 29 June 1900 - near Marseille, 31 July 1944) was a French pilot and writer who died in 1944 in a military action over the Mediterranean Sea.
He became world famous with the booklet Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince), of which 80 million copies were distributed in many languages.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, born in Lyon, France, on June 29, 1900, was not only a renowned writer and pioneering aviator but also a talented artist whose illustrations brought his literary works to life. Minjun creates various realities against which the laughing figures are rendered, thus creating ambiguous images, often with the sinister atmosphere, which comes as his personal cynical reaction to various social and political dimensions of contemporary Chinese realities. Immediately humorous and sympathetic, Yue Minjun’s paintings offer a light-hearted approach to philosophical enquiry and contemplation of existence. Yue’s self-portraits have been describe by theorist Li Xianting as “a self-ironic response to the spiritual vacuum and folly of modern-day China”, thus the acidic tones and commercialized vacuity of his works are used to underscore the insincerity of his figures’ mirth. “Art should be an expression of one's particular feelings and should be direct and deep. So I drew one person, and then added another and another until there were crowds of them.
