Two visiting Turtle doves perched in a hawthorn bush who have survived their migratory journey to spend the summer in the English countryside. The Turtle Dove is now the UK’s fastest declining breed of bird. Between 1995 and 2004 the number of breeding turtle doves in the UK fell by 93%. This print is featured in a new book called “When Turtle Doves Fly” produced in conjunction with Operation Turtle dove (a branch of the RSPB dedicated to saving Turtle Doves from extinction)
Kate Heiss is a textile designer and print-maker who has worked with a wide range of fashion brands including Fenchurch, Miss Selfridge and the Japanese fashion designer Michiko Koshino. Then in 2011 Kate set up her own printmaking studio. Her approach to design and printmaking stems from a love of florals, geometric patterns and bold colours often found in textiles. Much of her inspiration comes from the natural landscapes of East Anglia. Working in a variety of techniques to create her distinctive style, she describes her style as “Vibrant, illustrative and quirky.”

Kate Heiss
Kate Heiss is a contemporary printmaker and designer creating limited edition screen prints and linocuts on paper. Heiss studied at the Royal College of Art, graduating with an MA in Textile Design in 1997. She then worked for a wide range of fashion brands before setting up her printmaking studio in 2011. Heiss creates dynamic, vibrant, illustrative prints inspired by her love of birds, flowers and nature of the landscapes of East Anglia. Her work is handmade in her studio in Hertfordshire and regularly exhibited across the UK. Heiss’s artworks and surface pattern designs have also been used by many familiar Stationery and Homeware brands. Her clients include the Museums & Galleries, The ART File, Art Angels, Woodmansterne, Camden Graphics, Athena, Rewrapped and John Lewis. Recently, she completed several private commissions and has had her work featured in a variety of books.

Sunshine and Seagulls is a limited edition print by Mark A Pearce.
At school I spent most of my time in the art department. I then went on to do a one year foundation course at Carlisle College of Art. It was here that I learnt the art of printmaking and then continued my studies at the Norwich School of Art doing a degree in graphic design. Keen to move to London I found my first job as a graphic designer with John Nash and Friends and my second with Michael Peters and Partners. I went on to win a D&AD (Design and Art Directors Club of Great Britain) silver award for the very first greeting stamps issued by the Royal Mail.
