About the Item
Matt Gondek is a Deconstructive Pop Artist, whose work is possessed with a punk rock spirit, celebrating rebellion and destruction. With a visceral pop color palette and a disarmingly playful tone, he tears down cartoon idols, akin to slaughtering our modern day gods. Born in 1982, his creative voice is rooted in the 90s; as a true conduit of his generation and their potentially pointless search for meaning and purpose amidst a cruel life in a flawed world. He boasts sold out exhibitions in his home of Los Angeles as well as New York, Paris, Bangkok, and Hong Kong.

Matt Gondek
Born in Pittsburgh in 1982, and currently based in Los Angeles, Matt Gondek is considered as the most prominent figure in deconstructive pop art.
He started his artistic career as digital graphic, then turned to street art, gaining a quick recognition for his murals in Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, and Atlanta. Influenced by pop icons such as Warhol, Lichtenstein, Koons and KAWS, most of his production is inspired by characters from popular cartoon series such as The Simpsons and Walt Disney.. As he stated in his interview in Hypebeast in 2020:
“If you look back at, say, renaissance paintings, a lot of the work from that time was a reflection of their day to day life and culture or religion. Historically, a majority of most artwork was a reflection of that time period, and I’m no different. I grew up with these characters and imagery pounded into my brain on a daily basis. How could I ignore them when finding my voice?” As of today, Matt Gondek has presented several solo and group shows in the United States and abroad including New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Singapore and Hong Kong.

"Many of the most common flowers sold in flower shops around the world are grown in equatorial countries. Unfortunately, many of these countries have loose to no regulations on the synthetic pesticides and fertilizers used to grow the flowers. These pesticides and fertilizers find their way into waterways, and rivers and eventually make their way into our oceans, causing environmental havoc along the way.
Fertilizer runoff can trigger sudden explosions of marine algae capable of disrupting ocean ecosystems and even producing "dead zones" in the sea.
Pesticides can affect coral reproduction, growth, and other physiological processes. Herbicides, in particular, can affect the symbiotic algae (plants). This can damage their partnership with coral and result in bleaching.
This image contemplates the connection between the flowers we buy, and the effect commercial flowers have on the majestic and fragile reef systems around the world.
In keeping with one of PangeaSeed Foundation’s mottos, “As Above, So Below”, this image imagines Clownfish, an iconic reef dweller living within the flowers we consume. Their home is being threatened and altered by pesticide runoff, pictured here as a band of bleached out flowers.
You can make a difference by the choices you make on a daily basis. This Valentine’s Day, consider buying local organically grown flowers. Consider picking your own wildflowers. Consider giving flower paintings and drawings…. ( i Might know a guy). Consider doing this every time you think about gifting flowers or decorating your home.
The consumption choices we make have direct effects on our planet. Next time you buy flowers, think about our Mother Nature."

Rick Garcia's RAG13 Collection is inspired by the observation that there has been a significant and permanent change in our public and private lives. These artworks use symbolism to illustrate how the ubiquitous presence of suspicion and the act of being a suspect have both become a way of life. Adults and children are shown as generic solid shapes with parts missing to indicate loss of identity and the relinquishing of certain rights. The watchful eye of authority is always present as a figure dressed in black with three white stripes. All of the figures have a red dot to symbolize the human heart; how we are all connected. This red dot also represents being a target or a person of interest. Overall, this latest series creates a surreal flow of images, colors, and shapes blending into a beautiful and poignant work of art.
About the Artist:
"Photography has been part of my creativity throughout my life and more recently has become influential in my abstract work on canvas. The magical shapes of water gracefully floating or scattering in mid-air reveals the true god-like essence of nature. I am fascinated studying these images of bright tiny mercury-like globes, silky trails, dancing droplets and crystal clear languid sheets. "
Rick Garcia was born in Havana, Cuba, and very soon after, his parents relocated to Miami, Florida. He was always encouraged to follow his dream of pursuing and developing his talent in art. In later years he found a deep-rooted connection to surrealism, especially the work of Salvador Dali. Garcia had become obsessed with the unique images and amazing technique of the Spanish painter and he eventually traveled to Port Lligat, Spain to visit the home and surroundings of his mentor.
After years of attending the Art Institute of Miami, where he refined his artistic vision in drawing and painting, he was soon earning an income from published illustrations. Garcia has enjoyed a rich and diverse career starting with the hit TV show "Miami Vice" commissioning him to create a mural on the side of a three story building, and used his paintings for interior shots.
Apart from a growing number of private commissions, his distinctive images were commissioned by The United Nations Postal Administration in 1998 and 2003. His stamps brought awareness to the growing extinction of the rainforest and its inhabitants, and followed with the 50th Anniversary of the World Health Organization, bringing awareness to the vanishing supply of freshwater, where it earned him the prestige of the most beautiful stamp series of 2003.
Garcia was chosen as an "Absolut Artist of the 90s" in the popular vodka ad campaign and with his second piece Absolut Electric, this further drew worldwide attention.
1998, 1999, and 2001 garnered him the distinction of official artist to The Grammy Awards where his creations influenced the look of the live broadcast and graced the covers of the official program book, CDs, posters, apparel, and other various items. His work included portraits of stars such as Destiny's Child, Ricky Martin, Coldplay, Santana, Celia Cruz...

Kate Garner is an English photographer, fine artist, and singer. Garner has photographed a wide range of musicians and celebrities, including Dr. Dre, Leigh Bowery, JT LeRoy, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, David Bowie, Cameron Diaz, PJ Harvey, John Galliano, Björk, and Kate Moss.
Her work has appeared in the American and British versions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar as well as W magazine, Interview, GQ, Vanity Fair, Elle, and The Sunday Times.
Kate Garner was expelled from high school at the age of 16 and became a runaway who joined The Children Of God. To escape the grasp of the cult she hitchhiked from London through Eastern Europe to India in 1970, where she lived for a year as a traveler before being located by her parents. She attended art school at Blackpool in the North of England and later moved to London, where she began to both photograph and model for up-and-coming magazines such as The Face and i-D.
Kate Garner first came widely into the public eye as one-third of the 1980s avant-garde, new wave pop project Haysi Fantayzee, along with other members Jeremy Healy and Paul Caplin. Emanating from street art scenes such as the Blitz Kids that were cropping up in London in the early 1980s, Haysi’s music combined reggae, country, and electro with political and sociological lyrics couched as nursery rhymes.
Catapulted to stardom by their visual sensibilities, Haysi Fantayzee combined their extreme clothes sense – described as combining white Rasta, tribal chieftain, and Dickensian styles – with a quirky musical sound comparable to other new wave musical pop acts of the era, such as Bow Wow Wow, Adam and the Ants and Bananarama. They appeared several times on the BBC Television program Top of the Pops. Despite being touted by Bowie producer Tony Visconti as the next big thing, the group quickly disbanded after releasing three hit singles “John Wayne Is Big Leggy”, “Shiny Shiny”, and “Holy Joe”, and an album, Battle Hymns for Children Singing, that went gold.
Garner then returned to painting, photography, and video, launching a successful media arts career, starting with her collaboration with Sinéad O’Connor...
