Original Portugal ‘Galo de Barcelos’ vintage travel poster. This Portuguese poster is conservation archival linen backed in very good condition, ready to frame. The poster features the image of a rooster painted in a somewhat psychedelic manner but the background of yellows are done in a cubist format. A difficult original vintage poster to located in this high quality and linen backed condition.
The Galo de Barcelos has become the national symbol of Portugal. It symbolizes honesty, integrity, trust and honor, and it is also believed to bring good luck! The Barcelos Rooster, commonly called the Portuguese Rooster, is said to be the embodiment of the Portuguese love of life. As the unofficial symbol of Portugal, you can find this emblem in many forms in every local shop and especially gift shops.
