About the Item

The circa 1960 estampe by Etienne Poirier titled "Ra dieu Egyptien dieu du Soleil" is a captivating piece that blends the timeless allure of Egyptian mythology with modern artistic techniques. This artwork, featuring the Egyptian sun god Ra, is distinguished by its use of gold leaf on paper, creating a luminous and striking visual effect. Etienne Poirier's rendition of Ra is both elegant and minimalistic. The figure of Ra, depicted in a traditional seated pose with arms raised, is rendered in a stylized silhouette that captures the deity's divine and regal nature. The gold leaf, meticulously applied, adds a sense of opulence and reverence to the piece, making the figure of Ra stand out brilliantly against the textured paper background. The choice of gold leaf is particularly significant in this context. In ancient Egyptian culture, gold was considered the flesh of the gods, symbolizing immortality and divinity. By using gold leaf, Poirier not only honors this tradition but also infuses the artwork with a sense of timeless majesty and spiritual significance. The background paper, with its subtle texture and warm tone, complements the gold leaf and enhances the overall aesthetic of the piece. The interplay between the gold and the natural fibers of the paper creates a harmonious balance, drawing the viewer's eye to the central figure while also allowing the background to contribute to the composition's depth and richness. This particular estampe is further personalized by the artist's dedication and signature. The inscription, "pour Anne et René" (for Anne and René), adds a personal touch, suggesting that the artwork was created with specific individuals in mind. Poirier's handwritten signature affirms the piece's authenticity and adds to its historical and artistic value. Lithographie Originale de Jean Lurçat des années 50 - Le Colibri
By Jean Lurçat
Located in PARIS, FR
