Jupiter and Antiope: Smaller Plate on ivory-colored paper realized by Charles Amand Durand after an etching by Rembrandt dated 1631. This wonderful piece of art belongs to an edition of the late 19th century. Good conditions. Rembrandt known simply as Rembrandt (Leiden, 15 July 1606 - Amsterdam, 4 October 1669), was a Dutch painter and engraver. He is generally considered to be one of the greatest painters in European art history. Having achieved great success as a portrait painter from a young age. His drawings and paintings were already popular during his lifetime. Rembrandt's greatest creative triumphs are especially evident in the portraits of his contemporaries, his self-portraits, and illustrations of scenes from the Bible. In both painting and printing, he exhibited a thorough knowledge of classical iconography.
