About the Item

Alexandra Nechita Can this be real From the my journey collection - 1999 Print - Lithograph on Arches Archival Paper   35½'' x 23¾'' inches Edition: Signed in pencil, dated and marked AP 16/50 (Artist Proof) Embossed with Mourlot Paris Stamp "I am so blessed to have a younger brother named Maximillian. Can this be real? I feel so infinitely happy, so full of life, so complete to have Maximillian. Loving to open up a chest full of race cars and trucks or kicking a ball the way boys do, was something unknown to me.""Having my pony tail pulled so much was another surprise of having a little brother. Even wild adventures like building pyramids out of live snails was nothing compared to trying to hold our garden spiders hostage, so this way we could watch them spin their web whenever we wished."- - Alexandra Nechita She attracted the attention of art critics and the media who began telling the world about this rarest of child prodigies - an artist who had mastered drawing and color, an artist who had created a visual language of her own, in a unique, lyrical, figurative, abstract cubist manner, an artist who had only recently turned nine years old. Alexandra has synthesized an encyclopedia of other 20th Century modernist styles - Surrealism to Expressionism - in original works which can range up to eight feet tall.

Pierre Alechinsky Invisible Flying object - 1978 Print - Lithograph on Arches Archival Paper   25.75'' x 19.5'' Edition: Signed in pencil and marked 10/100 After completing his studies at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in 1947, Pierre Alechinsky immediately became one of the founders and most active members of the CoBrA group . He began working with other members 'four-handed', especially with Appel and Dotremont, producing oil paintings filled with a multitude of small figures; his taste for ironical titles and curved lines was already becoming evident. After Cobra disbanded, Alechinsky moved to Paris where he studied printmaking and moved in Surrealist circles. His work contains residual figurative motifs, such as goblins, reptiles of every description, volcanoes, and rushing streams. The beasts and geographical elements arouse disquiet as well as smiles of complicity. The recipient of the Andrew Mellon...
