David Shrigley
I'm so Great

2014

About the Item

Linocut on paper 29 x 39 cm Edition of 100 hand-signed and numbered by the artist David Shrigley is known for his distinctive and darkly humorous drawings, animations, and sculptures. Born in 1968, Shrigley's work often features simple, childlike illustrations paired with witty and absurd captions or observations. His art explores the absurdities and banalities of everyday life, presenting a skewed and satirical view of the world around us. Shrigley's irreverent approach to art challenges conventional notions of what constitutes "serious" or "important" subject matter, instead embracing the mundane and the absurd with a sense of playful irreverence. Despite their seemingly lighthearted nature, Shrigley's works often touch on deeper themes of mortality, anxiety, and the human condition, inviting viewers to reflect on their own existence in a world that can often feel perplexing and absurd. With a style that is both accessible and thought-provoking, Shrigley has garnered international acclaim, and his art continues to captivate audiences around the globe.
