In 1946 Gilot began under the tutelage of Picasso, and would study with him until 1953. The two also had a romantic relationship leading to two children, Claude and Paloma. In addition to being an accomplished painter, Gilot was also a best selling author, including Life with Picasso which sold over 1 million copies. Picasso was not the only famous lover of Gilot however, as she was later married to Jonas Salk.
