Jean Claude Richard Abbe de Saint-Non
Eglise de San Domeico - Aquatint After Fragonard by Abbé de Saint Non

1772

About the Item

Eglise de San Domenico is a wonderful etching and aquatint realized in 1772 by the Abbot of Saint-Non, after Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Titled, dated and signed on plate on lower-right margin. This modern artwork, representing the "Louis Carrache Eglise de San Domenico à Boòlogne" by Fragonard, is in very good conditions, except for a usual yellowing and some minor stains on paper beyond the marginal line of matrix. This defect does not affect the image. White cardboard passepartout included, cm 32.5 x 25. Jean-Claude Richard de Saint-Non, better known as Abbot of Saint-Non, or Abbé de Saint-Non (Paris, 1727 - 1791), was an engraver, draftsman, humanist, as well as archaeologist, patron and French traveler. A portrait of him, the work of his friend Jean-Honoré Fragonard, is held at the Louvre Museum. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
