About the Item
Eglise de San Domenico is a wonderful etching and aquatint realized in 1772 by the Abbot of Saint-Non, after Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Titled, dated and signed on plate on lower-right margin.
This modern artwork, representing the "Louis Carrache Eglise de San Domenico à Boòlogne" by Fragonard, is in very good conditions, except for a usual yellowing and some minor stains on paper beyond the marginal line of matrix. This defect does not affect the image. White cardboard passepartout included, cm 32.5 x 25.
Jean-Claude Richard de Saint-Non, better known as Abbot of Saint-Non, or Abbé de Saint-Non (Paris, 1727 - 1791), was an engraver, draftsman, humanist, as well as archaeologist, patron and French traveler. A portrait of him, the work of his friend Jean-Honoré Fragonard, is held at the Louvre Museum.
