    Fernando Salicrup was born in New York City in 1946, though he traveled between Puerto Rico and the United States throughout his childhood. He is a painter and printmaker, known for his work in experimental digital methods. After serving in the military, he returned to study art at the Philadelphia Academy of Art. He also won a scholarship to study at the New York School of Visual Arts, where he studied painting under Chuck Close, and printmaking under Robert Blackburn. In the late 1980's he began working with digital media, which he has continued to explore throughout his career.
