Bust of Franz Liszt with autograph of Moses Jacob Ezekiel is a photographic albumen print applied on cardboard. Moses Jacob Ezekiel's signature and dedication to the painter and friend Carlo Ferrari written in black ink on front lower edge of cardboard. Handwritten pencil notes on the back (not coeval) Thin marks on the surface and hardcover with slightly worn edges. Very good conditions Dim: cm 36 x 26 In the picture a famous sculpture by Moses "Ritter von" Ezekiel depicting the bust of Franz Liszt. This bust is part of the series of portraits that the American sculptor realized in the studio of Via Margutta in Rome, in which, as reported by the chronicles, was displayed a flag of the American Confederate States. Moses Jacob Ezekiel, also known as Moses "Ritter von" Ezekiel (Richmond October 28, 1844 - Rome March 27, 1917), was an American sculptor who lived and worked in Rome for the majority of his career. Ezekiel was "the first American-born Jewish artist to receive international acclaim. He served on the Confederate side in the American Civil War, including at the Battle of New Market. He is the only well-known sculptor to have seen action in the Civil War.
