Godet and finished printing on the presses of E. Durand on the fourth of December, One Thousand Nine-Hundred and Forty-Three, the first anniversary of the author's meeting with the Picasso, it was drawn: twenty-five copies on vélin d'Arches, signed by the author and the illustrator, containing the sequel in three colors of the engravings and an original etching of Pablo Picasso, numbered from I to XXV; and five hundred copies on Lafuma, numbered from XXVI to DXXV. In addition, six author's copies on vélin d'arches, numbered from I a VI, and three nominative copies on Bristol d'Arches, intended for the author, the illustrator and the publisher. The illustrations have been engraved at the eau-forte by Pablo Picasso so as to be printed in the text by common typographical processes. The eau-forte, intended only for the head copies, is one of the six illustrations drawn in deep cuts on Roger Lacourière's presses. PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) Spanish painter and sculptor is one of the most recognized figures of twentieth century art. During his artistic career, which lasted more than 75 years, he created thousands of works using all kinds of mediums. He changed art more profoundly than any other artist of his time. First famous for pioneering cubism, Picasso continued to develop his art with a pace and vitality comparable to the accelerated technological and cultural changes of the twentieth century. Each change embodied a radical idea, and might be said that Picasso lived several artistic lifetimes.
