About the Item
Original poster designed by Pierre Mendell (1929 – 2008) & Klaus Oberer (*1937) promoting an exhibition 1988 at Die Neue Sammlung in Munich on "Italian Design 1945 till today".
The German Mendell and the Swiss Oberer met during their studies at the Basel School of Design, then led by legendary didactic personalities as Emil Ruder and Armin Hofmann. 1961 they established the Graphic Design Studio Mendell & Oberer in Munich, active till 2000. From 1980 Mendell was the in-house designer at Die Neue Sammlung and from 1990 for the Bayerische Staatsoper; this creative freedom allowed him to design work that was entirely ahead of its time.
