Description:
In this lithograph, Reuven Rubin proclaims his love for the mundane and the ordinary by illustrating a family of fishers. The triumvirate of figures-- that is, the father, mother, and child swaddled in the mother's arms-- are all living in a nondescript moment that is defined by fishing. Nothing is said of the identity of the family, nor where they are located. Rubin typically engages in depicting the quotidian as a love letter to the human race, straining out particularity to create images of romantic activity and life. This lithograph is emblematic of such an interest.
