Purchased with many other well known artists/students works from the estate of Leonard G. Stanley, When he got out of the Navy, he opened a pottery studio. One day an elderly man came into the shop and hung around for quite a while asking a lot of questions. They had no idea who he was, but were polite to him, and Leonard answered his questions. It turned out that he was the head of the Art Department at San Jose State, and he offered Leonard a teaching job.
Leonard accepted, and taught art and design at San Jose State for 32 years. While he was teaching, he finished his final year at the College of Arts and Crafts and went on to earn his Masters Degree from Stanford.
