About the Item

A original poster realized by Francois Del Ry to promote the National Lottery in the 1950s. The National Lottery was created in 1933, it is the descendant of the Royal Lottery of Louis XVI and can be rightly considered as the ancestor of the Loto. In the 1930s, raffles and clandestine lotteries multiplied. The government, following this collective craze, decided to make the state coffers benefit from it. It is following a decree of July 22, 1933 that is created a "National Lottery for the benefit of the veterans and the agricultural calamities". Economy - Games Try your luck Jule Simons Paris

1971 Original poster Prix d'Amérique poster by Mathieu for the Loterie Nationale
By Georges Mathieu
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1971 Prix d'Amérique poster by Mathieu for the Loterie Nationale is a striking example of mid-20th-century French graphic design, capturing the essence of one of France's most prestigious horse racing events. The Prix d'Amérique, held annually at the Hippodrome de Vincennes, is the world's most famous trotting race, and the Loterie Nationale (National Lottery) played an essential role in promoting and supporting major national events such as this. Mathieu, the designer of this poster, was known for his ability to blend dynamic imagery with modernist design principles, often creating works that felt both contemporary and timeless. This poster encapsulates the excitement and grandeur of the Prix d'Amérique, utilizing bold colors and clean lines that were hallmarks of graphic design during that era. The poster was not only an advertisement for the event but also for the Loterie Nationale, which used such occasions to encourage public participation in the national lottery. The Loterie Nationale played a significant role in funding various public initiatives and events in France, with posters like this serving as both promotional tools and collectible pieces of art. Collectors and enthusiasts of vintage racing...
