Washington DC has severe restrictions on signs and banners, and these images were printed on every newspaper (i.e. Washington Post) on January 20th, as a message from the American People peacefully projecting their disapproval against Apathy, Ignorance, Sexism, Xenophobia, and Racism. These images will have an iconic place in the History of America, about one of the most divisive times in America's Story, taking its place in textbooks and museums for future generations. There will be many of these images on Inauguration Day, and further, many editions printed for both Active Use and Private Collections, but there will be only 50 of the Large Format Prints...

One of the most acclaimed artists to emerge from post-war Asia, Takashi Murakami is known for his signature “Superflat” aesthetic: a colorful, two-dimensional style that straddles the division between fine art and pop culture as it unites elements of anime, Japanese nihonga, and ukiyo-e woodcuts. Common motifs across Murakami’s oeuvre—which spans paintings, sculptures, prints, and more—include smiling flowers, bears, and the Mickey Mouse–inspired character Mr. DOB. Murakami also runs a large influential art production and artist management company, the Tokyo-based Kaikai Kiki Co. Futura (formerly Futura 2000), née Lenny McGurr, pioneered abstract street art in New York during the 1970s. While his contemporaries practiced traditional lettering, Futura combined text, imagery, thin aerosol lines, swaths of vibrant color, and a distinctive use of white space as he created dynamic, futuristic compositions; science fiction and computing technology have long informed his aesthetic. Punk rock ignited a lot of creative and philosophical things for me, and punk principles continuously remind me that speaking truth to power and questioning authority is paramount in life. The Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Black Flag, and the Circle Jerks are just a few of the groups that referenced injustices such as police brutality and abuse of power in their songs, inspiring me to speak out about the same subjects through my art.
