John James Audubon
Felis Onca, Linn. The Jaguar.

Hand-colored lithograph by J. T. Bowen after original drawing by John James Audubon (1785 - 1851). Audubon went on an expedition to the Missouri River in 1843. He did a comprehensive study of mammals in North America. The original watercolors were printed in Philadelphia by J. T. Bowen between 1845 and 1848. The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America was completed just three years before Audubon's death. This collection maintains the legacy as being the definitive work on North American mammals from the 19th century.
