About the Item

This exhibition poster was created by Kenneth Noland, one of the foremost figures in American Color Field painting, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Sarah Lawrence College. The event took place at the prestigious Lincoln Center Plaza in 1978, marking a milestone for one of the most progressive liberal arts colleges in the United States. Noland, known for his mastery of color, shape, and form, brought his signature minimalist aesthetic to this commemorative piece. His work often features clean geometric shapes—bullseyes, stripes, and chevrons—emphasizing pure color as a primary element of emotional and spatial experience. For the Sarah Lawrence 50th Anniversary poster, Noland utilized his iconic design principles to produce a bold, visually arresting composition that echoes the celebratory nature of the event. The poster was printed using high-quality lithography to maintain the vibrancy and depth of Noland’s color palette. The clean, modern design reflects the ethos of the college—bold, forward-thinking, and grounded in creativity. Today, this poster is a sought-after collectible for admirers of modern American art, Color Field painting, and those with a connection to Sarah Lawrence College. It represents a unique intersection of art, education, and cultural history. Shipping and Handling: We ship Worldwide.
