World traveler that he was, Bendiner was clearly at home in Paris. He found everyone fascinating and has made this print a compendium of local characters and types. Nothing escapes his eye -- but he always shows us charm and kindness.
Here a city bus is making its rounds through a lovely neighborhood with a cafe, gendarme, handsome conductor, window-washer, and baguet-totting housewives. Now of course this area is extremely desirable and highly fashionable. But still excellent for people watching!
Scarce, from a proposed edition of 10. This impression is signed, titled, and numbered in pencil.
Looking at the images I can see that the open areas in the center of the look white! They aren't. They are the actual paper showing so should look the same as the edges of the sheet.
