About the Item
Bronzino presents a sun-dappled afternoon scene in which a woman in a floral bikini reclines on a striped towel beside her dog. The play of filtered sunlight through tree branches creates a delicate lattice of light and shadow across their bodies, evoking the warmth, stillness, and intimacy of summer.Renowned for his masterful control of intaglio printmaking, Art Werger captures light, shadow, and human presence with extraordinary realism.
Werger’s work is celebrated for its narrative depth and technical virtuosity, blending meticulous detail with cinematic composition. In Bronzino, he combines his impeccable draftsmanship with a sense of quiet observation, inviting the viewer into a moment of leisure and companionship.
This print was created using a technique called "double-drop" in which a single plate is inked and printed twice - first with warm colors and then on top of itself with cool colors. Edition pf 35.
Werger has received over 250 awards in national and international exhibitions. In 2015 he recieved the Guanlan International Printmaking Prize at the Guanlan Biennial in China, followed by the Grand Prize at the Ekaterinburg mezzotint festival in Russia. In 2012 he received the Award of the Rector at the International Print Triennial in Krakow, Poland and the Prize for Full Correspondence between technique and Imagery at the First International Mezzotint Festival in Ekaterinburg, Russia. He currently teaches printmaking at Ohio University, in Athens Ohio. Previously he served at the Chairman of the fine Arts division, and as professor of Art, at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia.

Art Werger
Art Werger was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, in 1955. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, in 1978 and a master of fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, in 1982. From 1982 to 2000, he was a professor of art at Wesleyan College, in Macon, Georgia. Since 2000, he has been the director of foundations and professor of printmaking at Ohio University, in Athens, Ohio. Werger’s impressive, intense prints invite audiences to assume new perspectives and consider the unfolding scene, as though they were casual bystanders. He encourages viewers to develop their interpretations of the action. Werger thrives on dealing with the technical complexities of print media. He most often uses mezzotint, a type of intaglio printmaking, where the artist works from dark to light. Werger carefully refines his images to reflect the precision of this process. His prints have received many awards and have been displayed in numerous international and national exhibitions. They are included in corporate and museum collections, such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Boston Public Library, Brooklyn Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

David Smith-Harrison studied at Utah State University and served as studio assistant to Adrian Van Stuchelen and Moishe Smith. In 1983 he traveled in Europe and studied at the Art and Design Faculty of South Glamorgan Institute in Cardiff, Wales. Before leaving for Europe, Smith-Harrison began an intense professional association as a studio assistant to artist Trevor Southey.
Smith-Harrison’s imagery is distinctive for its meticulous and studied execution and rigorous, demanding craftsmanship. The results are generally rich in subtle articulations and poetic spirit. His work is located in private collection in Japan, Taiwan, Republic of China, Spain and the United States.
