About the Item

JR, JR au Louvre, 29 Mars 2019, 18h08 Contemporary, 21st Century, Print, Edition 20 colors lithograph on white paper BFK Rives - 300 grams Edition of 250 35 x 46 cm (13.8 x 18.1 in) Signed on the bottom right corner (stamp and lead), numbered on the bottom left corner Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity In mint condition, as acquired from the publisher JR JR is a photographer and artist whose identity is unconfirmed. After he found a camera in the Paris subway, he did a tour of European Street Art, tracking the people who communicate messages via the walls. Then, he started to work on the vertical limits, watching the people and the passage of life from the forbidden undergrounds and roofs of Paris. He has described himself as a "photograffeur", as he flyposts large black-and-white photographic images in public locations in a manner that is similar to the appropriation of the built environment by the graffiti artist. "The beauty of an art project is that you cannot always measure the impact, but one day it can become clear." —JR The artist exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who are not typical museum visitors. JR's work combines art and performance and its subject varies from commitment, freedom, identity and limitations. JR has exhibited his work at Centre Pompidou, Tate Modern, Watari-Um in Tokyo, Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden, and Power Station of Art in Shanghai.

  • Banksy "Visit Historic Palestine" Walled Off Hotel Stamped Print With C.O.A.
    By Banksy
    Located in Draper, UT
Banksy Visit Historic Palestine Print Mint Condition The only way to obtain this print was by staying overnight in the Hotel in Bethlehem. On the verso of the print it is double stamped with the Walled Off Hotel Emblem. The artwork was personally obtained by me when I visited the Walled Off Hotel. It has a stamp in the lower left corner that reads, "The Walled Off Hotel". Comes with Certificate of Authenticity from the Hotel which also has a stamp on it. The print is in pristine condition and has been stored flat since my arrival back from the Hotel. Also has four crisp corners and is in near mint/mint condition. Any questions please and thank you ask away. Banksy’s career—filled with art world pranks and political activism—has produced a variety of posters showcasing the street artist’s wry sense of humor. Commissioned by Greenpeace to protest global deforestation, Banksy’s early poster Save or Delete (2002) features blindfolded characters from Disney’s The Jungle Book standing amidst a devastated landscape. In 2005, Banksy pranked The Museum of Modern Art by secretly installing a painting of a Tesco Value soup can (a spoof on Andy Warhol’s famous silkscreens of Campbell’s Soup Cans) in one of its galleries—a hoax that went unnoticed by the museum’s staff for six days and inspired a series of Tesco Value soup can posters years later.
