About the Item
This print features a cloud of insects attracted to the Alium siculum and Benton Olive irises. This print was inspired by the beautiful Nurture Garden by Sarah Price at RHS Chelsea 2023 and her inspiration- the plantsman and painter Cedric Morris. Printed in a palette of soft hues of yellow, purple and pink. This is a Hybrid Print - A traditional hand pulled linocut on Archival Digital Inks Linocut Print – A relief printing technique where linoleum is cut, inked and rolled to create an inverse relief print, generating the image as seen.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Kate Heiss is a textile designer and print-maker who has worked with a wide range of fashion brands including Fenchurch, Miss Selfridge and the Japanese fashion designer Michiko Koshino. Then in 2011 Kate set up her own printmaking studio. Her approach to design and printmaking stems from a love of florals, geometric patterns and bold colours often found in textiles. Much of her inspiration comes from the natural landscapes of East Anglia. Working in a variety of techniques to create her distinctive style, she describes her style as “Vibrant, illustrative and quirky.”

Kate Heiss
Kate Heiss is a contemporary printmaker and designer creating limited edition screen prints and linocuts on paper. Heiss studied at the Royal College of Art, graduating with an MA in Textile Design in 1997. She then worked for a wide range of fashion brands before setting up her printmaking studio in 2011. Heiss creates dynamic, vibrant, illustrative prints inspired by her love of birds, flowers and nature of the landscapes of East Anglia. Her work is handmade in her studio in Hertfordshire and regularly exhibited across the UK. Heiss’s artworks and surface pattern designs have also been used by many familiar Stationery and Homeware brands. Her clients include the Museums & Galleries, The ART File, Art Angels, Woodmansterne, Camden Graphics, Athena, Rewrapped and John Lewis. Recently, she completed several private commissions and has had her work featured in a variety of books.

Summer Wasdale and Sun on the Scafells is a diptych of limited edition prints by Mark Pearce. At school Mark spent most of his time in the art department. He then went on to do a one year foundation course at Carlisle College of Art. It was here that he learnt the art of printmaking and then continued my studies at the Norwich School of Art doing a degree in graphic design.
