Printed in a soft duck egg blue this print depicts two oystercatchers flying over the lighthouse at Hunstanton in Norfolk. In the foreground there are wild flowers dancing in the sea breeze including Cornflowers, Cosmos and Wild Scabious.
This print has been reproduced as a greeting card in full colour for the Nature Trail Range at The ARTfile.
Kate Heiss is a contemporary Printmaker & Designer creating
limited edition screen prints and linocuts on paper.
Kate studied at the Royal college of Art, graduating with an MA in
Textile Design in 1997. She then worked for a wide range of
fashion brands before setting up her own printmaking
studio in 2011.
Kate creates dynamic, vibrant, illustrative prints inspired by
her love of birds, flowers and nature of the landscapes of East Anglia.
Her work is handmade in her studio in Hertfordshire and regularly
exhibited across the UK.
Kate’s artworks and surface pattern designs have also been
used by many familiar Stationery and Homeware brands.
Her clients include, Museums & Galleries, The ART File,
Art Angels, Woodmansterne, Camden Graphics, Athena,
Rewrapped and John Lewis.
Recently Kate has completed several private commissions
and has had her work featured in a variety of books.

This print was created as a commission for the Norfolk Broads Authority to feature on the cover of their 2022 Guide. I was asked to create a print that showcases the rare species that are indigenous to the Norfolk Broads. The print features the flowers Hemp Agrimony, Yellow Pond Lily, Branched Burr Reed and Milk Parsley. Dorris Hodgson Bothwell (American, 1902–2000), known as Dorr, was born in San Francisco, California, on May 3, 1902. The Bothwell family moved to San Diego in 1911, where they became friends and neighbors with the artists Anna and Albert Valentien. Dorr began her art studies with Anna in 1916 at the age of 14. In the early 1920s, Dorr returned to San Francisco to study at the California School of Fine Arts, then studied at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, and the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design, which was founded in San Francisco, 1926.
After receiving a modest inheritance, Dorr traveled to American Samoa in 1928, where she remained for two years and produced many works of art in a wide variety of mediums. Some of these were successfully shown at the Fine Arts Gallery of San Diego and the Beaux Gallery in San Francisco, allowing her to spend time in England, France, and Germany.
Returning to San Diego in 1931, Dorr became involved, once more, with the San Diego art community and exhibited with the San Diego Moderns...
