Rare Contemporary Architectural Urban Landscape "The Overpass" Etching on Paper
A compelling urban design of a highway underpass and one of his "El Paso" series of images, by California-based artist Leo van Staveren (Dutch/American, b. 1943). Geometric shapes and patterns in high contrast lead the viewer's eye through textural surfaces and negative spaces revealing a sky above.
Unsigned (Acquired as part of artist's "El Paso" series)
Presented in a white mat with foam core backing.

Leo van Staveren (Dutch/American, b. 1943) was born in Monster, Netherlands. He is a Sacramento, California-based artist with a BFA from the University of California at Davis and a graduate student in etching at San Francisco Art Institute. In the 1980s, van Staveren owned and operated Van Staveren Fine Art, a gallery selling prints and paintings in Sacramento.
