New York in 1835 from the Bay near Bellows Island shows sailing vessels in a white capped bay and a windy sky. In the 1920's and 30's the French engraver Raoul Varin ( 1865-1943 ) produced a variety of prints of New York City and Chicago views. They were printed by the British publishing firm A. Ackerman & Son with offices in Paris, Chicago and New York. These images are well known for their historical content and for their beautiful execution. This engraving is hand signed in pencil by the artist and is in very condition.
