This Callner print on heavy rag paper depicts an austere landscape in black and white. In the background are organic forms and clouds in various designs. In the foreground are dynamic curves that appear to surround a symbolistic body of water. This is number 5 in an edition of 12, signed by the artist in the front; it is sold unframed.
Richard Callner is a painter who at various times was focused on myth, abstraction, interior landscape, and geometry. He led the Art Department at University at Albany, NY, thus influencing scores of artists who’ve gone on to recognition. Callner died in 2007, but his work remains in public and private collections from Israel to the United States.
