About the Item
This is a large hand painted Artist's Proof with original oil and gesso paint; it is the No 1 of the only 3 Proofs; the colours of the painting and Shizico's expressive brushstrokes truly brings impact to your space, delights your living space for years to come.
About the painting:
After Turner was inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s iconic painting The Fighting Temeraire, which depicts one of the last second-rate ships of the line, honoured for its role in the Battle of Trafalgar. In 1838, the ship was towed up the Thames by a paddle-wheel steam tug to its final berth in Rotherhithe, where it was dismantled for scrap.
The sunset seascape captures the River Thames—a place immortalised by Turner, and also home to Shizico for the past two decades of her life.
Shizico created this painting as part of her study for an important commission, celebrating the glorious retirement of a sea person.

Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories. With a design and film background, Yi combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK and a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL, London. She is also the winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013, Los Angeles, USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday.
