About the Item

Original vintage sport poster for the 1972 Summer Olympic Games in Munich Germany featuring a colourful illustration by the British pop artist Allen Jones (b. 1937) depicting the logo with the five Olympic rings in pink, orange, purple, green and blue above the legs of two athletes against a yellow background on the left depicting the athlete wearing Puma trainers and on a green background showing the athlete in Adidas trainers on the right, the bold title text and Olympics logo below - Olympische Spiele Munchen 1972. This Munich Olympic poster is one of the series of posters by various popular artists of the period (Peter Phillips, Horst Antes, Otl Aicher, David Hockney among others) commissioned to design the 1972 Olympic Games posters in Germany for their advertising campaign, which aimed to "represent the intertwining of sports and art worldwide". Very good condition, minor creasing, minor staining.
