Original vintage travel advertising poster for The Empress A Canadian Pacific Hotel Victoria B.C. In Canada's Evergreen Playground featuring colourful artwork by the Canadian artist Peter Maxwell Ewart (1918-2001) showing a view of the historic Empress Hotel under a bright blue sky with sailing boats in the James Bay inner harbour and red roses from its English rose garden above the stylised text in the foreground. One of the oldest hotels in Victoria, the Empress was a Canadian Pacific hotel that opened in 1908 designed in a Chateauesque style by the British architect Francis Rattenbury; this grand railway hotel was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1981 and is now managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts (since 2016). Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, large restored tear through image, staining, backed on linen.
