ABOUT THIS PIECE: Vintage gas pumps, Salado, Texas. Night, 1/4 moon, CTO-gelled flashlight. As a night photographer, I shoot almost exclusively by the light of the full moon. One of the things I enjoy most about photographing after dark are all the latent details, those things which reveal themselves only when you take the time to let the moonlight tell the story. I love the calm and tranquility of a peaceful night scene, as well as the eerie feeling one can get when shooting an old desert ghost town under a full moon. Since all of my images are created at night, my exposure times are measured in minutes rather than fractions of a second, and because of this, I often use a technique called "light-painting", which is the use of portable, handlheld light sources to add supplemental light to a scene. While this light tends to create a mysterious, surreal look to a shot, it also often creates a tension within the viewer by rendering familiar subjects in a most unfamiliar light, drawing them into a vision of our world most have never seen or imagined before.
ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Noel Kerns is a Texas-based photographer who specializes in capturing the abandoned landscape of the American southwest. Growing up in the central Texas hill country, he developed his photographic skills shooting large format black & white landscapes. The slow and deliberate nature of the large format photographic process was a perfect launching pad into the art of digitally photographing the nocturnal world.
PACKAGING: 30x40" and 40x60" prints are shipped in a special fortified tube to guard against bending or damage. Framed 30x40" prints are shipped via FedEx in a bespoke cardboard box with a fitted interior armature for the frame. We do not frame the extra large, 40x60" print sizes because they are too large to ship without risking damage.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: We ship unframed prints internationally via DHL. The international shipping cost does not include the tax & duties, which will be the responsibility of the customer. Unfortunately, because of the high shipping cost we do not ship framed prints internationally at this time.
