Perfect copy, off-text plate for Dernières Œuvres de Matisse for Verve 35-36, impressed by Fernand Mourlot for publisher Emmanuel Tériade in 1958. Perfect preservation with pristine margins.
Lithograph on vélin du Marais paper. Unsigned and unnumbered, as issued. Excellent state of conservation. Notes: From the volume, Verve: Revue Artistique et Littéraire, Vol. IX, N° 35-36, 1958. Published by Éditions de la revue Verve, Paris, under the editorship of Tériade, Editeur, Paris; printed by Mourlot Freres, Paris, 1958; entirely devoted to the last works of Matisse - 1950-1954. Reproduced in colour lithography, these works have been realised by the artist with papers coloured in gouache, cut with scissors and pasted. Matisse composed the cover specially for this volume. The first lithographic plates were printed in 1954 under his direction. The printing of the color lithographs by Mourlot Frères and that of the photogravure reproductions and typography by Draeger Frères master printers was completed in Paris on July 28, 1958.
